{"id":68,"date":"2025-09-09T20:19:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T20:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/?p=68"},"modified":"2025-09-09T20:19:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T20:19:11","slug":"46671","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/?p=68","title":{"rendered":"Why This Birthday Tells a New Story"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why This Birthday Tells a New Story<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"828\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9lhaLvuUwU8\" title=\"Another Year, Guided by Sicilian Stars\" width=\"365\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><br\/>August 16 marks another trip around the sun.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/shorts\/9lhaLvuUwU8\" target=\"_blank\">It has been a year of firsts, unforgettable experiences, and reconnection.<\/a> My last birthday was spent on a two-week research road trip for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindsaymariemorris.com\/beneath-the-sicilian-stars.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Beneath the Sicilian Stars<\/em><\/a>, visiting the WWII internment camp at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lindsaymariemorris\/p\/C-v0qYjSk-J\/\" target=\"_blank\">Historical Museum at Fort Missoula<\/a>, paddling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lindsaymariemorris\/p\/C_BUg0nv4sw\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oregon\u2019s Lost Lake<\/a>, and seeing Glacier National Park\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C-yyZa8pDO8\/\" target=\"_blank\">few remaining ice masses<\/a>.<br\/><br\/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lindsaymariemorris\/p\/C-v0qYjSk-J\/\" target=\"_blank\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/historical-museum-at-fort-missoula-3.png\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/historical-museum-at-fort-missoula-3.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><br\/>Four months of nonstop writing followed as I finalized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindsaymariemorris.com\/the_last_letter_from_sicily.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Last Letter from Sicily<\/em><\/a>. Although my debut was published in January, the hometown launch came in February with a front-page feature in Racine\u2019s <em>Journal Times<\/em>, bookstore events at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lindsaymariemorris\/p\/DGI1upus5bt\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vintage and Modern Books<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lindsaymariemorris\/p\/DGdZnTdpmIs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Boswell Book Company<\/a>, and reunions with friends and family.<br\/><br\/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindsaymariemorris.com\/blog\/posts\/45927\" target=\"_blank\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Journal Times article\" height=\"320\" src=\"http:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/4y7l5u3x5frwypq571alxvah4ivv.jpeg\" width=\"400\"\/> <\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/4y7l5u3x5frwypq571alxvah4ivv.jpeg\" alt=\"Journal Times article\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><br\/>Since then, I have finished a third novel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindsaymariemorris.com\/extras.htm\" target=\"_blank\">taught writing workshops<\/a>, attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1246755187048768\" target=\"_blank\">Historical Novel Society North America conference<\/a> in Las Vegas, and celebrated <em>Beneath the Sicilian Stars&#8217;<\/em> release with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindsaymariemorris.com\/blog\/posts\/46429\" target=\"_blank\">a virtual launch party<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RailroadBookDepot\/posts\/pfbid02vvjbZigjyYJSzH3VFqK1NrXYjhdgVt2fJ9ztX6FW1W1MT1EahBVvZhr3Cy6saN5ql\" target=\"_blank\">Railroad Book Depot appearance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lindsaymariemorris.com\/extras.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> <br\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/lindsay-teaching-elements-of-fiction-2.png\"\/> <\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lindsay.kobkob.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/lindsay-teaching-elements-of-fiction-2.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Now, just over a month after my second launch, it is incredible to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0ZWUHdbUXCw6FeKHhv1WaDcP3WUtUWZR2fDB2YTXramxnGqzC3EgcUk9Gbt8gFtBRl&amp;id=61576627216170\" target=\"_blank\">reader reviews<\/a> and hear about the ways people connect with my work.<\/p>\n<p>What a remarkable <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/shorts\/9lhaLvuUwU8\" target=\"_blank\">trip around the sun<\/a> it has been.
